The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in its 14001 standard defines an environmental management system (EMS) auditing as a set of policies, procedures and work instructions to reduce the impact of a facility’s operations upon the environment. This course utilizes the document “Achieving Environmental Excellence: An Environmental Management System (EMS) Handbook for Wastewater Utilities” published by the US EPA as the basic text for developing and implementing an EMS. This course will not qualify the student as a lead auditor training under the ISO 14001 standard, but will provide most of the information required to take the lead auditor test.
NY PE & PLS: You must choose courses that are technical in nature or related to matters of laws and ethics contributing to the health and welfare of the public. NY Board does not accept courses related to office management, risk management, leadership, marketing, accounting, financial planning, real estate, and basic CAD. Specific course topics that are on the borderline and are not acceptable by the NY Board have been noted under the course description on our website.
