Asphalt Maintenance and Repair

This course will cover the maintenance and repair of asphalt pavement. The focus of this course will be on extending the useful life of the pavement, maintaining the riding surface and prevent water from entering through the pavement. In order for pavement to remain useful to the traveling public, it has be inspected often, maintained well, and repaired using the most efficient and economical methods.

There are a variety of pavement repair methods from patching, to mill and resurfacing, to complete full depth repair. The type of pavement distress will determine type of repair that has to be utilized.

This course material is based on the document “Asphalt Maintenance and Repair” as found on the website of the Whole Building Design Guide and published by the department of defense.

This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of the course materials.
