Relays and Contactors

Joseph E. Fleckenstein, PE

Relays are the critical components of circuits that control the operation of electrical gear of a wide variety. Relays are the physical means whereby a predetermined logic is converted into a working electrical circuit. There are numerous types of relays, each of which is intended for a specific type of application. To understand control circuits, a person would be well advised to understand relays as well as their respective features and limitations. Whereas contactors are similar to relays the differences merit understanding.

This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of the course materials.
